Abby's Quilt

Abby, the little girl that lives next door, and and I finished her quilt today!  You might remember me talking about starting her quilt a couple weeks ago.  She helped me cut it out with my Accuquilt Go! Cutter and the Rag Die.  It is so easy, which makes it perfect for making quilts with kids.  She seemed to really enjoy deciding where to put each square and what she wanted next to each other.  I think I might have a quilter to train someday! :)  Here is a picture of Abby & her quilt....

I've also been knitting like crazy on Ashley's Hugs from Home Afghan!  I'm getting close to halfway.  I sure hope I can get it finished in time!  I just love that I have the freedom to knit and watch tv with Ashley all day! I love the knitting but I love spending time with her before she leaves for college even more.  Anyhow, here is a pic...

Bye,

Book Reviews

Do you love to read?  I sure do!  I don't do it as often as I'd like but that is about to change.  I've just discovered that there are publishers that have created blogging programs.  You join their program, request a review copy from the list of offered books, they ship you the book (free!), you read it & post a review on your blog.  Isn't that awesome?!?

I'm in the process of researching various publishers and book review programs.  I've applied to a few and actually have a couple books on request from one of them.  Watch for the reviews in a month or so!  I'll keep you all updated on what I've learned.  It looks as though most of them offer badges to add to my sidebar so you will probably start seeing them soon.

If you have ever participated in a program like this I would love to hear from you.  What did you think of it?  Are there any specific publishers you would recommend?  I think this will be a great way for me to get started reading more!

Bye,

I'm blessed with a wonderful husband!

I'm feeling very contemplative today.  My husband has been working a lot of overtime recently and I'm missing him.  He is such a hard worker and has always supported our family.  I've been blessed to be a SAHM and am so thankful for that.  I love that I have been able to focus on my husband, our child and our home my whole adult life.

We've been married for 20 years and he is my best friend.  He is such a good man.  He loves me unconditionally and would literally do anything for me.  Our relationship is very important to both of us.  We've always put a great deal of time and energy into building it.  He is more important to me than anything on Earth and I know he would tell you the same about me.  As a result of this, we have a beautiful marriage and a wonderful life together.  Praise the Lord!

My brother, who is 2 years younger than me, wasn't always the "perfect" husband.  He loved his wife but other things were more important to him.  He's gone through a HUGE amount of personal changes in the last year or so and I am so proud of him.  He recently posted a "note" on Facebook and I'd encourage all of you to go read it.  Here is the link!

Marriage and family are so important!  Please remember that your spouse should be the most important thing in your life, other than God of course.  This is hard sometimes and takes a lot of commitment and effort. It's worth it though!!

Fleece Blanket Giveaway

I'm holding a great Fleece Blanket Giveaway on the Central Ohio Binky Patrol blog!! All you have to do is leave a comment on that blog & you might win!  If you don’t have time now, don’t worry because there will be lots more fleece blanket  giveaways coming up soon. Come check it out! :)

FYI: The difference between a fleece blanket and a fleece throw blanket (fleece throw) is the size. Fleece blankets run in sizes that correspond with bedding dimensions; king, queen, full, twin and baby.

A fleece throw blanket is smaller than a twin blanket (but bigger than a baby blanket), which is the perfect size to "throw" over your lap or shoulders. Fleece throws are popular at outdoor sporting events (especially when personalized with a team logo or mascot) which is why fleece throws are sometimes called stadium blankets.

Regardless of the size, the words "fleece blankets", "fleece throw blankets", "fleece throws" or "stadium blankets" are used interchangeably.

Knitting Update & Quilt Kits

I have been knitting up a storm on the Hugs From Home afghan that I started about a week or so ago for Ashley.  I only have a little over 3 weeks to get it finished so I am trying very hard to devote a lot of time to knitting.  Unfortunately, I'm not a very confident knitter and am pretty slow.  I'll probably see improvements by the end of this afghan though!  Anyhow, here is a picture as of last night.  I love the colors she's chosen and the stripes are so pretty!!

Last night I decided to get my Accuquilt Go! Cutter out and start cutting up some fabric scraps that Crooked Brook donated.  At the end of two hours I had two baby quilts cut out and ready to go!  So fun!!  I wrote a long post about it on the Central Ohio Binky Patrol blog....come check it out if you'd like.  Here are a couple pictures to get you interested, lol!

UFOs?

Gosh, I am so frustrated with myself!  I absolutely love to start projects but really have a difficult time with actually finishing them.  Anyone else have this problem, lol?  I probably have atleast 30 UFOs that are quilting related, not to mention atleast another 15 that are knitting/crochet related.  Then there are charity items.  Being the area coordinator for Central Ohio Binky Patrol, I have received a large number of blocks that need put together (quilt or yarn ones) and quilt tops that need to be quilted & bound.  So many things to finish!  They are taking over my sewing room but yet I can’t make myself get in there and get them finished!

I have a pretty good excuse right now because I’m working on a knitted blanket for my only child to take to college the end of August.  I’m knitting pretty much 24/7 to get it finished in time.  But once August 20th comes and we’ve taken her to college I know I’m going to feel down, depressed and at my wits end.  I am thinking that maybe trying to make myself get all of these UFOs finished would be the best thing for me.

I have to admit, though, that my first thought is to start something new instead.  AHH!!!  Is there any hope for me?  Maybe I should try to set a schedule up for myself.  I am blessed to be a SAHM and my husband has started a new schedule at work where he works 12 hours a day on a rotating type schedule.  The days he’s off I will probably be spending all my time with him enjoying our empty nest.  But the days he works will be perfect for me to craft all day long!  Any advice to make myself get things done?  What are your secrets?!?
