My one and only child, Ashley, is headed off to college this fall. She's going to Grace College in Indiana and will be four hours from home. She has been homeschooled since 2nd grade and we are very close. I am going to miss her terribly!
When she was little she had a "bee" that her Great Grandma Martin made for her out of cotton yarn. She loved that blanket so much & it went everywhere with her. We still have it but it's pretty much just strings now, lol! So today I started a new blanket for her out of cotton yarn. I'm calling it "Hugs from Home" and I'm hoping it'll bring her as much cuddly comfort as her "bee" did years ago.
She likes knitted items better than crochet so that is what we are going with. She also really likes simple & clean type patterns so I'm going to just knit every row. I casted on 167 inches - basically just casted on until it was approximately the size she wanted. She's picked out the colors and we're going to just alternate them as we go. Here is a pic...
I've knitted two rows so far and it took me about 20 minutes! I'm not very fast so this is going to take forever. Unfortunately, her orientation weekend is August 19-21 so I need to have it finished by then. I think I'll be knitting pretty much solid. Not really a terrible thing now that I think about it, lol!
Bye,
